Marriage is going out of the trend and is taking new shape. The marriage is
being overlooked by a growing number of people attracted towards trial marriage
and is opting for trial marriage or cohabitation. Once the couples opt for a
replacement or trial alternative to marriage, the result is that, marriage is
becoming more like buying an automobile. The buyers desire a test drive before
they purchase the same. It sounds unethical that a lady is tested before the
marriage. The women are not for sale and cannot be left to “buyers” who come
inspect, test and go after a handful of “test”. The rejection after unspecified
period of trial leaves either of the partners in severe psychological effects
and also the depressing future. Those who favor the trial marriage have varied
reasons for the concept. Some believe once it is not the right time for marriage
the trial marriage is a good option while others think living together is the
best indemnity against divorce.
The trial marriage and cohabiting were once not very popular in America but now
becoming the standard custom. Those who have been through the trial marriage
have not liked the idea and advocate not going for it. The number of marriages
preceded by cohabitation rose from about 10 percent in 1965 to over 50 percent
by 1994.The reports also confirm that living together on trial actually enhances
the possibility of the marriage ending in divorce. The women in common are more
expected to be sufferers of domestic violence, while the offspring’s are more
probable to be bodily and sexually ill treated. In addition, by living together
on trial before getting married, a pair unintentionally eliminates the courtship
from the marriage procedure. The two ultimately fail beyond doubt to get to know
each other. While some people remain adamant that marriage reduces the strength
a couple's relationship.
Living together on trial does equal harm to mature and young relationships. The
trial can never develop an aspect of the emotional relationship between the
couple. This is so because both of them know that nothing is at stake as it is
just an arrangement based on the mutual understanding to live together on trial.
The trial marriages have shown more harm to the women, as the divorce rates of
women who opt for trial marriage or cohabit are nearly 80 percent higher than
the rates of those who do not. The children as a result of trial marriages have
no future as none of the two take the responsibility to bear the child’s burden.
Therefore it is not a good proposition to opt for the trial marriage.
