Differences of today’s life ways and the people of the Anasazi
tribe
Like
the most people today Anasazi Indians were very picky as to where they lived.
First dwellings were called pit houses by the archaeologists because the floors
were dug a few feet into the ground to form a round or oblong pit. Later they
began building stone and adobe pueblos around the year 900. These unique and
amazing apartments like structures were often built along cliff faces. These two
story stone dwellings in cliffs were built large enough to fit 30 people in
them. These Indians lived as small-scattered families of hunters and seed
gatherers. However today there are more than 100 million housing units, and the
majority of them are "single family dwellings," or houses. People chose to live
independently or with friends rather than living with families. Therefore houses
are built accordingly.

The early Basket makers clothed themselves in fur or turkey feather robes,
string aprons, loincloths and round toed, plant fiber sandals. They wore
ornaments made of shell, bone or stone. They likely raised their crops primarily
corn and squash in garden like plots rather than in large fields. The men hunted
the larger game animals with the spear. Women gathered wild food plants such as
amaranth, pinyon nuts etc. and used coarse stone basins to grind domesticated
and wild seeds into flour. Unaware of pottery the women prepared meals in
pitch-lined baskets, cooking with fire-hot stones dropped directly into the food
mixture. As far as agriculture is concerned things have changed a lot.
People now grow a variety of crops in large fields to sell, they use modern day
tractors or animals to help them irrigate the land. People no longer cover
themselves in fur- or turkey-feather robes, fashion has changed to much, such as
jeans, skirts and blouses made of cotton have been introduced, with sandals made
of plastic and many other materials are worn. Man and women both have the same
standing in today’s society, men no longer are the sole bread earners and women
are no longer housewives. They both have equal rights and opportunities. Cooking
food has also changed, food is being sold in markets either cooked or raw, women
no longer have to spend hours cooking, with the introduction on microwaves and
stoves life has become simpler and easier. People today are no longer restricted
to occupations such as hunting and agriculture, there are a variety of
occupations such as business, and software engineering etc. commodities such as
baskets and pots are just a part of several commodities today. The most
profitable commodities today include natural rubber, auto parts, iron, steel,
alcoholic beverages, paper, tobacco etc.
