Essay on Change in my Life
My grandfather was a great disciplinarian in his life and during his life
everything was in apple pie order. He always wanted to get things done in a
proper way and no deviation from discipline was possible. However, his sudden
death was the greatest test of my life, as I had not only to bear the loss of
his life but also had to console and comfort my mother, who was grief stricken
with his death.
My mother had a strong relationship with her father and she was attached with
him emotionally. His death had shattered her life. Although at the time of his
death she was 42 years old but she became an orphan at that age and she was
behaving like a small child. These were the hardest days of her life and she
always remembered him with tears coming out from her eyes. I always tried to
give her consolation that one cannot undo what God has ordained but these
consolations had no effect on her. She was unable to live without me even for a
single moment. I had always to be near her, trying to bring her back to normal
life. After the death of grandpa I had my own problems but due to the
deteriorated condition of my mom I was unable to even make an allusion to those
problems. Initially I tried to share my emotions with her but very soon I
realized that this discussion made her condition more and more unstable.
To cope with those problems I continuously brooded over it. There were two
questions to solve. The first question was how to give support to my mom and the
second question was how I should tackle my own problems. The time of dependence
and reliance on my mom and grandfather had gone forever. Then I made a strong
determination and commitment with myself that I should stand on my own feet and
face all the challenges and hardships of life. The initiation of the process of
change was very difficult and troublesome but slowly and gradually I was
realizing that a great change was coming in life. This thing started to give me
strength and vigor and with the passage of time it got stronger and stronger. I
was feeling that as if my life was changing and indeed something new was
happening in my life. This change which came after the death of my father was so
rewarding that I became able not only to keep my mom with peace of mind but I
also became able to solve my own problems without discussing them with her. This
change was great and it made me very strong in my life.
